About us….

How we started….

I have been paddle boarding for over five years and always enjoy taking my board out for a new adventure and discovering the hidden gems on the Space Coast of Florida. I love taking my friends out onto the water to share to my new findings and give them an experience to take home with them that they will remember for a lifetime. When I learned about the group of wild flamingos who lost their way during a hurricane and made an island in the Indian River Lagoon home, I knew I had to find them for myself. Found them on the first try. A good friend suggested I open a business to share my experiences with others and thought that it was an incredible adventure for me to offer this to others who have not explored this part of Florida. I am also a flight attendant and was given the nickname, Fly Girl.

Once word got out about my new passion for the flamingos, my nickname was quickly changed to Flymingo and Flymingo River Tours was born. I am looking forward to meeting people from all over the world and thankful for allowing me to take them on a tour of our beautiful Space Coast. Florida is such an incredible place to call home and blessed for this opportunity to share this piece of paradise. I can’t think of any other place where you can paddle out to an island to see wild flamingos and catch a launch from Kennedy Space Center.

Bioluminescence Tours

Bioluminescence

This tour is seasonal from June – September

The space coast is blessed to be on a short list of places in the world where bioluminescence can be experienced with regularity. As we paddle into the Indian River Lagoon for a waterfront sunset, we will watch the water come alive in a whole new way. As the sun sets, we will experience the magic of bioluminescent plankton that will illuminate the water below us. The water will glow with anything that creates movement: fish, dolphin, your SUP, or anything else. The lagoon will look like a scene from Avatar. The fish will look like streaks of lightning as they swim around us.

Bioluminscent Comb Jellyfish season is from October – June
– a net and clear plastic jar will be provided so that you can catch the Comb Jellyfish (don’t worry, they don’t sting)
– a flashlight will also be provided to shine onto the jellyfish
– you can also put your hand into the jar and play with the jellyfish, it’s actually encouraged. I’ll leave the surprise awaiting you when you experience it first hand (pun very much intended)

If your’re concerned about your balance on a paddle board, a seat can easily be attached and transformed into a kayak and a kayak paddle will be provided. Just let your tour guide know in advance.
